When Nick and Royston first opened the doors of Royston Blythe in 1989 there is no way that they could ever imagine the amazing three decades that would follow.
Over the years there has been phenomenal industry recognition which has seen the couple win a ton of awards and take part in many international shows in their role as Global Ambassadors for L’Oréal – a position which they’ve held for over 10 years.
And, it’s these events which have taken Nick and Royston around the world, with the couple seen everywhere from the Maldives to a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
But it’s not only the couple who’ve made international appearances, their work has featured on fashion magazine covers in newsagents around the globe. And, with an impressive clientele which includes busy moms to billionaires, Hollywood stars and reality TV personalities, Royston and Nick are always busy flying to a new destination to style a celebrity for a special appearance: whether that’s on TV, for a calendar shoot or even their wedding.
When the couple opened their second salon at the iconic Dorchester Hotel in 2008, Bernie Ecclestone’s daughter Tamara became the face of the brand. And at their London salon, Royston and Nick created a fabulous team, which included their good friend, Ian Carmichael – who is the Queen’s hairdresser. Together the team styled the world’s royalty, rich and famous.
Their popularity has seen the couple break into TV media and they’ve been featured on Lorraine, Katie Price and Peter Andre, Tamara`s World and Billion-dollar Girl, to name but a few and they are now regulars on ITVBE`s hit reality show The Real Housewives of Cheshire.
Despite all the glitz and glamour though, Royston and Nick have always stayed true to their roots and close to home at their salons in Compton and Shrewsbury, much to the delight of their fiercely loyal regular clientele , many of whom have been with them on their amazing journey right from the very start.
Lara Rooney says:
I started visiting RB when they first opened 30 years ago in Newbridge along with my mom and sisters.
I love coming to Nick, he is my therapy, my friend and he ‘gets’ me and my hair.
When he came to do my hair on the day of my wedding he felt like another member of the family and we laughed all morning – it was such a happy day!
Recently mom passed away and calling Rita to cancel her appointments was hard but when I went into the salon I was greeted with kindness and love – but not in a gushing way.
Nick is so genuine and he makes me feel and look better- he is just fabulous!
Jade Colton says:
I first came to the salon with my mom aged 12 years old. It was my first real experience of independence and I felt really grown up and special.
Nick and Royston have become friends over the years. I love the chat and the pampering I receive when I’m in the salon.
When Nick styled my hair for my wedding I felt like a princess and even though they were guests they were on-hand during the photos and even did my lip gloss!
James and Emer are amazing, they know what I like and make my hair look consistently fabulous and I completely trust them both.
When I recommend the salon to my friends, I explain that it’s another level of service at RB. People think they may feel out of their depth, but its more than a hair salon it’s an amazing experience from start to finish
Karen Price says:
I had never visited RB before they came to Compton because I thought they would be stuck up and cliquey but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I’ve now been a regular client for over 16 years.
Sophie was my stylist for many years and now Boo and Lisa look after my hair – they are such a talented team.
I love the fact that Nick and Royston are still so hands-on, they are always around at the salon and if they’re free they’ll pull up a chair and ask how I am – they’re just so personable .
I have difficult hair and the best advice they have given me was to have Rapture extensions which have changed my life.
I plan my life around my hair and I book all of my appointments for the year in January, which I think shows just how good the team at RB are!
Sarah Mc Grandle says:
I have been a client of Royston`s since I was 18, which is 37 years ago!
I completely trust Royston and he has never let me down. Everyone comments on my glamorous hair and I put that all down to him.
He has been with me through two marriages and three kids and he did my wedding hair on both occasions.
I love the fact that he has never changed despite all of his success and experiences, he is still completely down to earth, bonkers and very naughty! We laugh throughout my visits and I feel fabulous when I leave, which is why I will never stop coming to him.
Linda Reynolds says:
I met Nick 40 years ago when he worked in Birmingham and have been a client ever since.
He is an amazingly talented stylist and every time I visit the salon I leave feeling absolutely thrilled with my hair.
If, for whatever reason, I have had to try another salon it has never been right and I have had to go back to Nick.
He makes me feel completely confident and we laugh through the appointment and it is always a pleasure to see him.
With new generations of clients discovering the salon all the time there is no doubt that Royston Blythe’s loyal clientele will only continue to grow.
